Before our first meeting

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

I’m thrilled that you’ll be joining us for summer Bible Study. For those who’ve been with us before, you’ll find this study to be less demanding. For those who’ve never done Bible Study, this is a great opportunity to get you started in the transforming power of studying God’s Word with a group of women.

Before we meet on June 9, please read Luke 10: 38-42 and John 11-12. Gather information about our current woman of interest, Mary of Bethany. Be ready to share what you learned in our first meeting.

Most likely, we’ll meet in Sue Smith’s Sunday School classroom in the adult education building. If it’s too crowded, we’ll move to the choir room.  Have your calendar with you that first night. We’ll have a sign up sheet for snacks as we will take some time to fellowship with each other during this study.

I’ll have books ready for purchase in the welcome area before and after the service next Sunday, June 5. Books are $8. I will also have study guides for you to pick up. Books and study guides will also be available the first few nights we meet.

Below, you’ll find our scheduled meeting dates and the homework that will be assigned each session (due for the next session).

Do We Dare Enter the Holy of Holies?

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

We are just about finished with the study A Woman’s Heart.  It has been a wonderful journey with lessons learned and eyes opened.

Thankfully, because of Christ’s sacrifice we are not required to stand in the outer court and offer animal sacrifices to atone for our sins.  We can now be with Christ in the Holy of Holies and fellowship with Him!  To do this we have to move from the outer court’s altar  (believers) to the basin (service workers) through the inner court (disciples of Christ) until we reach the Holy of Holies.

Not just anyone can walk into the Holy of Holies just as it was in the Old Testament tabernacle.   We need to exhibit certain characteristics in order to have that favored intimacy with Christ.

1) Be unafraid to let God display His power to us.

2) Leave our old lives behind and live the life of a child of God.

3) Be satisfied with things of heaven and not of earth

4) Allow God to renew our mind to a “fresh capacity of understanding”

5) Be willing to fellowship in Christ’s sufferings.

(A Woman’s Heart pg. 218)

Phillipians 3:10 – That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowhip of his sufferings being made conformable unto his death.
