Here at Idlewild Baptist Church there are two overreaching Biblical mandates that guide us and influence who we are (family of believers) and what we do (ministry and missions).
We believe that scripture calls for us to love God and to love others. In Mark 12:30-33, Jesus said: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."
Loving God and loving others is to be lived out in fulfillment of the Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came together and said. "All authority in heaven and on earth and has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
We seek to accomplish these two Biblical mandates by:
Evangelism: Sharing the love of God and good news of Jesus Christ with others both locally and globally
Discipleship: Involving people in Bible Study that increase the awareness of God’s purposes and plans and how it lives out the truths of God’s Word
Fellowship: Developing relationships with other believers that helps one develop spiritually
Involving the body of believers in ministering to the needs of those in our local area and beyond
Worship: Leading people to worship God publically and privately
Through this we hope to accomplish:
Spiritual Growth that results in a healthy individual growing body of believers
Effective Sharing that meets:
Spiritual needs through sharing the good news
Physical needs through sharing our “goods”
